5.66 kg: you can move it or hang it without help. The Salora FOD40TV is a 40 inch Full HD smart TV, just 7.8 cm thin, with a response time of 8 ms. Three tuners are built in, satellite included.

Picture

Full HD (1920 x 1080) at 60 Hz, with a brightness of 230 cd/m² and a contrast of 3000:1. The viewing angle is 178 degrees, so the picture stays right even from the side of the sofa. The border around the screen is minimal. With an 8 ms response time, fast motion stays crisp on screen.

Apps and operation

The TV runs on VIDAA. This system starts up quickly and works without an account. Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video come installed as standard, with direct buttons on the remote control. You can get more apps from the VIDAA app store. Wi-Fi is built in, and there is an Ethernet port for a wired connection.

Tuners and connections

DVB-C for cable, DVB-T2 for terrestrial TV and DVB-S2 for satellite: all three are built in. Your provider's smartcard goes into the CI+ 1.3 slot. You also get 3x HDMI 1.4 with ARC, 2x USB 2.0, Ethernet and an optical digital audio output.

Wall mounting and placement

Without the stand, the TV is 90.3 cm wide, 51.7 cm high and 7.8 cm deep, with a weight of 5.66 kg. VESA 100 x 100 mm, so any standard wall bracket fits. At 5.66 kg you stay well below the load capacity of an ordinary bracket, including a tilting one.

Frequently asked questions

Can it go on the wall?
Yes. VESA 100 x 100 mm and 5.66 kg without the stand. Every standard wall bracket is designed for that.

Do I need a satellite receiver?
No. The DVB-S2-capable tuner is built in, so you connect the satellite dish cable directly to the TV.

Can I connect a soundbar?
Yes, via HDMI ARC or via the optical digital audio output.

How do I get the picture from my phone onto the TV?
With an HDMI cable, or you open the app directly on the TV.

Can I use it for gaming?
Yes. With an 8 ms response time, it plays comfortably. You connect your console to one of the three HDMI ports and play in 1080p.

What is included?
The stand, the remote control, 2x AAA batteries and the user manual.

What is the recommended viewing distance?
Allow for 1.5 to 2.5 metres. With Full HD, the rule of thumb is 1.5 to 2.5 times the screen diagonal of 101.6 cm. Closer than one and a half times and you start to see the individual pixels; further away than two and a half times and you no longer make full use of the Full HD resolution.
