10.7 kg for 139.7 cm of picture, well below what a standard bracket can carry. The Salora FOD55UV is a 55 inch 4K smart TV with HDR10 and energy efficiency class E in both SDR and HDR. Three tuners are built in, satellite included.

Picture

4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) on an LED panel, native 50 Hz, with HDR10. Brightness 250 cd/m² and a viewing angle of 178 degrees, so the picture stays right from the side of the sofa too. The border around the screen is minimal, so the picture runs almost to the edge.

Apps and control

The TV runs on VIDAA. The system starts up quickly and works without an account. Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+ and Uitzending Gemist come preinstalled, with direct buttons on the remote control. You can get more apps from the VIDAA app store. Wi-Fi is built in, and there is an Ethernet port for a wired connection.

Tuners and connections

DVB-C for cable, DVB-T2 for terrestrial and DVB-S2 for satellite: all three are built in. Your provider's smartcard goes in the CI+ 1.3 slot. You also get 3x HDMI 2.0 with ARC, 2x USB 2.0, Ethernet and an optical digital audio output.

Wall mounting and placement

The TV is 122.6 cm wide and 74.3 cm high, and with the stand fitted you need 19.0 cm of depth on your furniture. It weighs 10.7 kg. VESA 200 x 200 mm, the common pattern for 55 inch, so almost any wall bracket for this size fits. The packaging measures 132.0 x 82.5 x 12.0 cm and weighs 14.0 kg.

Frequently asked questions

Can it go on the wall?
Yes. VESA 200 x 200 mm and 10.7 kg. That is the standard size for 55 inch, so almost any bracket for this size fits.

Do I need a satellite receiver?
No. The DVB-S2-compatible satellite tuner is built in, so you connect the dish cable directly to the TV.

Can I connect a soundbar?
Yes, via HDMI ARC or via the optical digital audio output.

How do I get the picture from my phone onto the TV?
With an HDMI cable, or open the app directly on the TV.

Can I game on it?
Yes. With HDMI 2.0, a PS5 or Xbox Series X plays in 4K. The panel runs at 50 Hz.

What is included?
The stand, the remote control, 2x AAA batteries, the cables and the user manual.

What is the recommended viewing distance?
Allow 1.7 to 2.8 metres. With 4K Ultra HD you can sit close without seeing the pixel structure: 1.2 to 2.0 times the screen diagonal of 139.7 cm. That lower limit is the THX guideline for a 40-degree viewing angle; the SMPTE guideline of 30 degrees works out at about 1.6 times the diagonal, so right in the middle of that range.
