A contrast ratio of 5000:1 keeps blacks deep in dark scenes. The Salora FOD43FV is a 43 inch Full HD smart TV with a response time of 6.5 ms, a cabinet just 9.1 cm slim and a weight of 6.5 kg. Three tuners are built in, satellite included.

Picture

Full HD (1920 x 1080) on a Direct-LED panel, native 50 Hz with support for 50 and 60 Hz. Brightness 230 cd/m², contrast 5000:1 and a viewing angle of 178 degrees. The bezel around the screen is minimal, so the picture extends almost to the edge. At 6.5 ms, fast motion stays sharp.

Apps and operation

The TV runs on VIDAA. This system starts up quickly and works without an account. Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and NPO Start come preinstalled, with direct buttons on the remote control. You can get more apps from the VIDAA app store. Wi-Fi is built in, and there is an Ethernet port for a wired connection.

Tuners and connections

DVB-C for cable, DVB-T2 for terrestrial and DVB-S2 for satellite: all three are built in. Your provider's smartcard goes in the CI+ 1.3 slot. You also get 3x HDMI 1.4 with ARC, 2x USB 2.0, Ethernet, an optical digital audio output and a headphone output. You can record to a USB stick, and EPG and hotel mode are included.

Mounting and placement

The cabinet is 97 cm wide, 56.3 cm high and 9.1 cm deep, with a weight of 6.5 kg. VESA 100 x 100 mm, so a wall bracket with that hole pattern fits and you can hang it up on your own. A centre stand comes in the box, so a narrow TV unit is all you need. The packaging measures 106.0 x 62.5 x 12.6 cm and weighs 8.5 kg.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect a soundbar?
Yes, via HDMI ARC or via the optical output. Headphones go into the headphone output.

How do I get the picture from my phone onto the TV?
With an HDMI cable, or you open the app directly on the TV.

Can I game on it?
Yes. With a 6.5 ms response time, it plays smoothly. You connect a PS5 or Xbox Series X via HDMI and play in 1080p.

What's included?
The stand, the remote control, 2x AAA batteries, the cables and the user manual.

What is the recommended viewing distance?
Allow for 1.6 to 2.7 metres. For Full HD, the rule of thumb is 1.5 to 2.5 times the screen diagonal of 109.2 cm. Sit closer than one and a half times and you start to see the individual pixels; sit further away than two and a half times and you no longer make full use of the Full HD resolution.
